2023 Road Reconstruction Project

08/07/2023 Project Update -

Last week recap:

Road building on Martin and 9th Intersection was completed, which continued to approximately Day’s Tire. At this time, we do not have a schedule as to when curb and gutter will be poured, but the road is up to the base course elevation. Removals began on Thursday on 11th Avenue.

On 15th and 17th, all services were completed, and storm sewer work has been ongoing.

All services were completed on Larson between 16th and 17th, and storm sewer work has begun.

Next week:

Pipe work will begin on Monday on 11th Avenue. The crew may move up to 12th Avenue and work there as well.

Work will continue moving on Larson.

After storm is completed on 17th, the crews will start working through Jackson, 18th, and Ivy.

Road building will begin on 17th Avenue.

We currently have 2/5 railroad crossing permits for 15th and 17th Avenue crossings (these were submitted 2/14/2023). Once we get the other permits and the subcontractor is scheduled, I will be able to give everyone a better idea of the remaining work for this construction season.

07/05/2023 Project Update - Starting tomorrow, July 6th, A-1 Excavating will be implementing a road closure on Main Street (CTH F).  The road will be closed from 17th Avenue (Post office) to 18th Avenue while work is being completed in the intersection of 17th Avenue and Main Street.  This closure will be from July 6th to July 14th.  Along with this closure there will be two other locations impacted by construction.  15th Avenue from Main Street going East to the railroad tracks will be closed.  The other closure is from Main Street (STH 40) to 11th Avenue on Martin Road.   All businesses should be accessible.

05/03/2023 Project Update -  The final period for public comment to the Public Service Commission ends on May 5th.  Fingers crossed, we are hoping to get final approval to be able to move forward with the project the following week.  Schedule of what areas will be done when is still undetermined due to the schedule being pushed out.  Once we know we can start, we should be able to provide an update at that time.

03/29/2023 Project Update -  The project has been awarded to A-1 Excavating.  This will include underground utility work, relocation of electrical poles, curb and gutter, street surface, driveways, and sidewalks (to include tree removal where necessary).  Construction will start upon receiving Public Service Commission authorization.
