JUNE 7, 2010
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular
meeting of the Common Council of the City of Bloomer
was called to order on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 7:30
p.m. at City Hall – Mayor Summerfield presiding. Roll
call was taken: Mayor Summerfield, Alderpersons
Meinen, Hofmann, Steinmetz, Koehler and Clerk Stoik.
Attorney Thiel was absent.
All present gave pledge to the flag.
Alderperson Hofmann recommended a change to the minutes
from May 27, 2010. The Council approved Abby
Olson to fill the position of Michelle Stiehl and not
Linda Wankel. Alderperson Koehler made a motion to
approve the minutes from the previous meeting (May
27, 2010) with the correction as recommended by Alderperson
Hofmann. Alderperson Hofmann seconded the motion
and all present voted aye.
Alderperson Steinmetz made a motion to approve all
claims against the City & Utilities as presented. Alderperson
Hofmann seconded the motion and all present voted aye. The
claims were in the amounts listed below:

AUDIENCE COMMENTS
Dean Gullickson spoke that he was a candidate for
67th Assembly. He spoke of his past experiences and
hoped that they would support him. Also, Jim Lewis
was present. He too is running for 67th Assembly. He
talked about past military experience and also asked
for support.
Alderperson Steinmetz made a motion to approve an
extension of a Class “B” Combination Beer & Liquor
license for Leann Rubenzer – Transport Bar at
1602 Martin Road on Saturday, June 19 at 11:00 a.m.
to Sunday, June 20, at 2:00 a.m. with live music on
Saturday, June 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as approved
by Chief Carr. Alderperson Koehler seconded the motion
and all present voted aye.
No action was taken in regards to a request from Mark
Lindoo to allow preliminary excavation on Lot 33 in
Westbrook Subdivision. Mayor Summerfield stated
that this was not allowable according to the zoning
ordinance. No action was taken.
Alderperson Hofmann made a motion to approve the sidewalk
installation on Smith Street and 17th Avenue as recommended
by Michael Meindel, Street, Water & Sewer Administrator
at a not to exceed price of $4,000. Alderperson
Meinen seconded the motion and all present voted aye.
Alderperson Steinmetz made a motion to approve an
increase in dumpster charges for demolition at the
recycling center to $18.00 per yard. Alderperson
Hofmann seconded the motion and all present voted aye.
Alderperson Hofmann made a motion to approve Cigarette
Seller licenses to the following listed below. Alderperson
Meinen seconded the motion and all present voted aye.

Alderperson Koehler made a motion to approve applications
for licenses to serve fermented malt beverages & intoxicating
liquors for the following listed below as approved
by Chief Carr with the exemption of Alia M. Hanson. He
had not been able to contact her from the last meeting.

voted aye.

DEPARTMENT HEADS
Peter Paulson, Electric Administrator stated that
they did a moisture test on the Electric Shop floor.
He will let them know the results.
Michael Meindel, Street, Water & Sewer Administrator – had
nothing to report.
Police Chief Carr was questioned how the investigation
was going from the last meeting. Chief Carr reported
that he put in a request to have the City of Altoona
to do the investigation for a mutual aid. He
is waiting for a response.
Tony Rubenzer, Building Inspector – had nothing
to report.
ALDERPERSON COMMENTS
Alderperson Meinen thanked the Council for allowing
Main Street Café to change the agenda to allow
his June Dairy Days. They had a nice turnout.

Alderperson Steinmetz – no comments.
Alderperson Koehler – no comments.
MAYOR COMMENTS
Mayor Summerfield – had no comments.
Alderperson Koehler made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderperson
Steinmetz seconded the motion and all present voted
aye.
